You cancel a repeat reminder and check-in service online by logging in, opening Call details, and adding a Stop calls date with a reason under Stop (permanent). Repeat deliveries stop on that date (or immediately if you choose Now), and your subscription ends so you are not charged for future months.

This guide is for permanent cancellation of the repeat service. For a short break without ending billing, use pause instead of cancel. One-off reminders and in-person care use different paths — see our services page.

Repeat reminders and check-insYes
One-off remindersNo ongoing subscription — one-off slots end after delivery
In-person careNot cancelled here

How do I cancel online?

  1. Log in to the management dashboard for the service.
  2. Under Update service details, open Call details.
  3. Scroll to Start or stop the service (this controls repeating daily, weekly, and monthly schedules — not one-time appointment slots).
  4. Select Add new date (or Edit an existing future stop if you need to change it).
  5. Choose Stop calls.
  6. Pick Now for immediate cancellation, or a future date and time if deliveries should continue until then.
  7. Under Because…, select a reason in the Stop (permanent) group — for example the service is no longer needed, or the person has moved into residential care. Do not pick a Pause (temporary) reason if you intend to cancel billing.
  8. Add any optional details the form asks for, then save.
  9. You return to Call details, where the stop entry is listed with its date and reason.

Start and stop dates do not affect one-time schedules already on the account — only repeating schedules stop.

If you cannot add a stop date, check notifications on the dashboard (unpaid subscription or account review can block some scheduling actions until resolved). You can still use stop routes in many cases when payment is overdue — if you are stuck, contact us.

What happens to reminders, check-ins, and billing?

When you cancelWhat happens
Repeat deliveriesStop on the stop date you set (or straight away with Now).
SubscriptionEnds for this service — no further monthly charges after cancellation takes effect.
Free trialIf you cancel during the trial, you are not charged when the trial would have ended.
Already paid monthCareCalls bills monthly on the same calendar day for the month ahead. Stopping the service prevents new charges; it does not automatically refund a period already paid unless your account terms say otherwise.
One-off slotsUnaffected by start/stop — they deliver on their single date unless you delete them on Call details.

More on cards, Direct Debit, and who pays: how much CareCalls costs and how payment works.

Account-funded services (for example fully paid by a council) may not show Subscription and payments on the dashboard; stopping deliveries still uses the same Stop calls flow, but billing is handled by the organisation — ask your funder if unsure.

Can I cancel by phone?

No — not for a full cancel. Calling the CareCalls service number from the receiver’s phone can pause or unpause deliveries immediately, but it does not replace the online Stop (permanent) flow or end a subscription properly.

To cancel billing and stop repeat schedules for good, use the web steps above. See edit, pause, or cancel for how phone pause differs from permanent stop.

Can I change my mind after cancelling?

If deliveries have stopped but you have not chosen a permanent stop reason that closed the account, you may be able to add a Start calls date on Call details and restore payment where required. If the service was fully stopped with a permanent reason, you may need to set up again from our services page — contact us if you are unsure which state your account is in.
